Rio Linda News June 22, 2006Andres, he will be missed

Dave Andres, General Manager of the Rio Linda/Elverta Community Water District (RLECWD), has resigned to become the General Manager of the Calaveras County Water District. Andres has served as RLECWD's General Manager for just over four years.

Mr. Mark Makaba has been hired to serve as interim General Manager until the RLECWD Board recruits a replacement for Andres.

Jay O'Brien, who writes for The Rio Linda Elverta News, summed up our position with his statement at the RLECWD Board meeting June 19th, Andres' last day on the job.

"Dave, I'm really sorry to see you leave the District. I understand, however.

"I find it hard to believe that you have stuck it out for this long, with Mary Harris' reform board calling the shots. As a past Board member, I have been repeatedly embarrassed by the reform Board.

Andres & Morris"As an example, I've lost count of how many times, as a member of the press, that I've taken you court documents that have been filed on behalf of the district by Mary's lawyers, and asked you questions about the legal actions. In almost every case, you first learned of these legal actions from me. That's inexcusable. As General Manager, you should know of Board and Counsel actions long before the press gets copies.

"On another subject, your involvement with the Elverta Specific Plan has set the District up to benefit greatly from the development. It will be nearly impossible for your replacement to fill your shoes, as he will lack the institutional knowledge that you have created.

"This district has benefited greatly from you and your contributions. Unfortunately, your work wasn't appreciated by the Reform Board, to the detriment of the community.

"Dave, I wish you success in your new position and I thank you for the contributions that you've made to Rio Linda and Elverta."

Andres will be missed.
