The Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting has been awarded to The Rio Linda/Elverta Community Water District (RLECWD) by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR). The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.

In addition, GFOA presented an Award of Financial Reporting Achievement to Elizabeth Myers, RLECWD Administrative Supervisor, as the individual primarily responsible for preparing the award-winning CAFR.

GFOA was founded in 1906; it is the leading organization serving the needs of state, provincial, and local government finance practitioners in the United States and Canada.

GFOA, in the news release honoring RLECWD, says "The CAFR has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program including demonstrating a constructive 'spirit of full disclosure' to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the CAFR."

RLECWD was one of 54 local agencies out of 4,763 eligible in the state to receive the award.

The GFOA is a nonprofit association serving approximately 16,000 government finance professionals with offices in Chicago, IL, and Washington, D.C.

RLECWD General Manager Dave Andres, in his report to the RLECWD Board of Directors on September 26th, said "This is an important achievement for the District and Liz Myers should be congratulated for the hard work in making this happen."

Liz Myers, who received the personal award, said "I appreciate being recognized by such a well-respected multinational organization. Staff has worked very hard to provide the Board of Directors and our customers with a professional and financially sound organization."
