County
Community Service Center to locate at "Town Center" in North Highlands

by Jay O'Brien
The Sacramento County Board of Supervisors, with a unanimous vote
Tuesday, June 1, approved the selection of the "Town Center", in North
Highlands at 6015 Watt Avenue, as the location for the County's first
Community Service Center. The Community Service Center will serve Rio
Linda, Elverta, North Highlands, Foothill Farms, and Antelope.
The two other locations under consideration were next door to the
Sheriff's Service Center at Watt and U Street and the County's
corporation yard at Elkhorn and Don Julio.
The Sheriff may move the present Sheriff's service center on Watt
Avenue at U Street nearly two miles south on Watt Avenue, to Town
Center in North Highlands. First District Supervisor Roger Dickinson
said, "I have spoken to the Sheriff directly, and the Sheriff is in
fact interested in moving to co-locate at the Town Center."
The North Area Service Center will provide a location where building
permits may be obtained, code enforcement assistance provided, and in
general to be a neighborhood access point to County government. The
functions now performed by the North Highlands Community Area Service
Team (NORCAST) will be included and expanded. NORCAST is presently
managed by Sacramento County's Mark Manoff.
